Since the Society of Physics Students is a nation wide organization, the society is split into different zones or sections. This allows zone meeting, held every semester, to be at a more personal level. Members have the opportunity to build one on one relationships with other students from different schools. To see how the different zones are seperated throughout the nation click here. There are more than 700 chapters nationwide. To see chapter webpages of the ones listed with the American Institute of Physics follow this AIP link. New Mexico is in zone 16. Arizona and parts of Texas are also in this zone. The webpages of our zones chapters are listed at this link.
An organization for students with either an interest in physics or just want to play with cool toys. Anyone who is interested, even remotely, is encouraged to join. While it is true that some people interested in physics can be, well, nerds, most of us are normal people. That is what we think anyway. SPS is a division of the American Institute of Physics. SPS is a great organization to get to know others that are involved in physical science fields. We do organize trips and activities and they are all interesting and benificial.
Anyone who is passingly interested in physics, or anyone interested in passing physics.
